Example

Can customers find how to change the delivery address?

Step by step

1. New study. In the dashboard, click New study. Enter Address change as the study name; choose By a link and the participant language. Click Create study and check that the builder opens. Name: Address change · Participant language.

2. Choose evidence. In the builder, click Add block and choose Context. Then add Prototype test and Open question. Check this order in the list; to use the task, import screens in the Prototype tab. Context → task → open question.

3. Configure each block. Click the open question in the list. In its properties, enter What made changing the address difficult? Review whether it is required and check the preview text. Then fill in the remaining fields in the other blocks. Prompt without revealing the answer · Options suited to the audience.

4. Walk through the flow. Click Study preview to follow the sequence without collecting responses. Read the context. If the Figma task shows Simulated answer to test logic, choose the outcome and click Apply simulated answer. Then answer the open question and check the ending. To interact with Figma and check desktop or mobile, select the block and open Preview in new tab · Block preview does not apply skip rules.

5. Save in the library and reuse. Select the question and click the Save question to library star. Name it, choose a folder or create Demographics, and save. In another study, open Add block, Library and the folder; add the question and check the copy in the list. Folder: Demographics · Add block → Library.

Validate before collecting responses

In the builder, Study preview applies draft groups, rules and screening without creating sessions or taking quota slots. For Figma tasks, websites and interviews, it shows Simulated answer to test logic: the author supplies the outcome; this does not demonstrate a real interaction.

Preview in new tab lets you check each block on desktop or mobile, including interactive Figma navigation and a simulated interview conversation. This block preview does not apply study skip rules.

To validate real websites, recording, voice and AI follow-up, publish and use Open link in new tab in Share. The published link opens a real participation at /r/[token]: it may create responses and consume quota. Keep this participation separate when analyzing collection.

Cautions and limitations

• Do not turn every question into a scale: tasks observe behavior and open questions explain reasons.
• Adapt templates to your context and language.

Choose the question type

• Open question: Discover the reason in the participant’s own words.
• Multiple choice: Compare options with single or multiple selection.
• Matrix: Rate several items using the same response scale.
• Ranking: Ask for a complete priority order.
• MaxDiff — priorities: Find priorities through most and least important choices.
• Yes or no: Get a direct binary answer.
• Simple input: Collect a short value in a defined format.
• Context text: Prepare participants for the next activity.
• Screener: Let only participants matching your profile continue.
• Opinion scale and metrics: Choose the right scale for clarity, recommendation, satisfaction or usability.
• Prototype task test: Observe whether participants reach a goal and which paths they take.
• First click: Discover where someone would try to start a task.
• Five-second test: Measure what people remember after brief exposure.
• Preference test: Compare versions and discover the reason for a choice.
• Card sorting: Discover how people organize information.
• Tree test: Check whether menu structure leads to the expected destination.
• Website test: Observe a task on a functioning website.
• AI interview: Explore experiences through an AI-led interview script.
