Prototype task test
Observe whether participants reach a goal and which paths they take.
What it does
Measure navigation behavior in Figma or interactive images with a defined task and success criterion.
When to use it
Before developing or changing a flow; free exploration is for observation without a correct goal.
Before you begin
- Screens imported in the Prototype tab.
- Choose display compatible with available links and an exit through giving up or a time limit.
See how it works
Present screens in sequence when there are no navigable links.
Follow the step instructions below. A screen capture is not available for this step.

An example to try
Find the receipt for your last payment.
What you see in results
- Compare success, time and path against the defined goal.
- Free exploration records paths, clicks and time; success and score do not apply.
Avoid these mix-ups
- Do not publish an unreachable goal.
- Guided progression is not equivalent to finding paths unaided.
- Study session replay and video recording are different features.
