Match the prototype mode to your research question.

Purpose

Distinguish reaching a screen, following a path and observing clicks on sequential screens.

When to use it

When configuring a Prototype test block.

Before you start

  • An import containing the required screens
  • A task with a participant exit

Example

Find where to change the address; success means reaching confirmation.

Step by step

  1. Select mode. In Prototype test, choose Figma for file navigation, Clickable for linked images or Guided flow for sequential screens. Figma · Clickable · Guided flow.
  1. Define task and start. Write the goal in participant language, then select the import and start screen. Do not reveal the route in the instruction. Find where to change the address.
  1. Configure success and exit. Choose reaching a screen or an exact path and set destinations. In guided flow, also review the advance rule. Set a time limit and give-up behavior. Confirmation screen · Exit by timeout or giving up.
  1. Validate outcomes. Use preview for appearance. To validate Figma navigation and success, publish and open the participant link; complete the route and try the alternative exit. This can generate a real response. Success · Give-up or timeout.

Validate before collecting responses

The side preview lets you inspect a block; for Figma it is static. To validate draft rules and order, use Test full flow, without creating sessions or taking quota slots. Figma, recording, voice and AI follow-up require the published link. Test published opens the real /r/[token] link: it can create responses and consume quota. Separate these tests when analyzing your collection.

How to read the result

  • Success, task give-up, timeout or blocked outcomes
  • Clicks and paths to understand why

Cautions and limitations

  • Guided flow advances by author rules; it does not prove that product navigation was discovered.
  • Giving up a task and abandoning the study are different outcomes.
