Choose task navigation and success criteria

Match the prototype mode to your research question.

What it does

Distinguish reaching a screen, following a path and observing clicks on sequential screens.

When to use it

When configuring a Prototype test block.

Before you begin
  • An import containing the required screens
  • A task with a participant exit

Select mode

In Prototype test, choose Figma for file navigation, Clickable for linked images or Guided flow for sequential screens.

  • Figma
  • Clickable
  • Guided flow

An example to try

Find where to change the address; success means reaching confirmation.

What you see in results

  • Success, task give-up, timeout or blocked outcomes
  • Clicks and paths to understand why

Avoid these mix-ups

  • Guided flow advances by author rules; it does not prove that product navigation was discovered.
  • Giving up a task and abandoning the study are different outcomes.
