Connect Claude and ChatGPT
Explore authorized studies and responses in your AI service without using UXTap analyses.
4 minutes read
On this page
Read authorized research in your AI service using the MCP connector.
Purpose
Read studies and results in Claude or ChatGPT with your current UXTap permissions.
When to use it
When you want to explore research in a conversation with your external AI service.
Before you start
- A UXTap account with access to the intended workspace and studies
- A Claude or ChatGPT account whose plan and account permissions enable custom connectors
- Permission to share the selected data with the external service
Example
Find the checkout study and request a summary of aggregate results with links to the evidence.
Step by step
- Copy the connector URL. In the UXTap menu, open Connect your AI and explore the examples. Click Connect Claude or ChatGPT and copy the URL to use in the external service. Copying the URL does not authorize access · Available in every UXTap plan.
- Add it in the external service. In Claude, open Settings and Connectors and add a custom connector. In ChatGPT, enable developer mode under Settings and Apps and create an app. Use the copied URL and OAuth authentication. Options depend on the external service plan and account permissions.
- Review and authorize. Sign in to UXTap when prompted. Check the application, return address, workspace and permissions. Enable responses per session to share comments and transcripts. Enable evidence to share images, replays and approved recordings. Both options start unchecked and are independent. Read studies and results · Access renewal when requested · Free text only with separate consent.
- Query and check the evidence. Select the connector in the external service conversation. Search for a study by title and check the returned result links before making decisions. The external AI produces the interpretation · UXTap provides the permitted data.
- Review and revoke access. In Connect your AI, find the application under authorized connections and choose Revoke connection. Access stops immediately; reconnecting requires a new authorization. You manage your own connections · Business administrators can also revoke workspace connections and view history containing call metadata only.
How to read the result
- The connection appears in Connect your AI after authorization; copying the URL does not connect your account.
- Search finds studies by title, and results can be filtered by version, device, outcome and partial responses.
- Queries respect your current access and keep responses over your plan quota veiled.
Cautions and limitations
- MCP is included in all four UXTap plans and does not use the AI analysis allowance. You use your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription.
- The connector only reads: it cannot edit or publish studies, recruit participants, generate internal analyses or make payments.
- Session responses and free text require read:sessions, initially unchecked. A new request for this permission opens another consent screen.
- Contact fields, panel variables and participant tokens are not shared. With evidence permission, approved recordings use temporary links lasting up to 60 seconds. Existing transcripts also require session-response permission. Email patterns and links are removed from text, but free text may still contain personal data; this does not guarantee anonymization.
- Each authorization lasts up to 90 days. Without current workspace or study access, the connection cannot restore that permission. Rate protections may ask you to pause before retrying.
- If sign-in opens the dashboard without completing the connection, start adding the connector again from the external service.

Evidence and calculation bases
To expand an older connection, reconnect UXTap and choose both permissions. Previous authorizations never expand automatically. Images and voices may identify people.
Prototype, first-click and website heatmaps can include an image when the source is authorized and available. Captures without verified consent, expired captures and captures linked to protected media are not sent; use the approved recording instead. Audio and video playback depends on the external application. Replays show observed actions, not continuous cursor movement.
Ask AI to read every page of responses and transcripts. SUS distributions use all valid scores and provide their denominator, which may be smaller than the total participant count.
