Differentiate Recording and Reconstruction

Similarly, absence of audio does not indicate silence. It may mean that the microphone was not captured. Record the session conditions before elaborating an interpretation.
Analyze Session Replays with a Question
Imagine a fictional booking platform where some people return multiple times to the time slot selection. The question might be: “does the return happen to compare options or because the selection is unclear?”.
Choose sessions that help explore this distinction. Include completed and uncompleted attempts, observing the same criteria in both. Do not select only the most dramatic segments.
A first review can record:

When sharing, write a descriptive sentence and explain why the segment matters. Avoid titles that judge the person or anticipate a conclusion stronger than the material.

Look for Recurrence with Consistent Criteria
After identifying a possible pattern, check other sessions from the same segment. Record how many were analyzed and how they were chosen.
One case can reveal an important problem, but it does not automatically allow estimating its frequency in the audience. If the decision depends on prevalence, plan an adequate collection for that question.

Add the participant's explanation when it exists. A comment about reconciling the time slot with work can give meaning to the return. Preserve the question that preceded the answer and check if it suggested an explanation. The context of the statement matters as much as the chosen segment.
Mark recording limitations: absence of visual capture, interrupted segment, image that does not correspond to the current state, or necessary information outside the study. If the evidence does not allow reconstructing a moment, leave the gap visible. Do not complete the sequence with a narrative that seems probable but was not observed.
Clip Evidence That Another Person Can Interpret
A very short clip might show the error and hide the condition that provoked it. Preserve the preceding action and the outcome necessary to understand the episode. Compare the episode with other cases using the same criteria. To quantify the occurrence, use a defined baseline and consistent review; watching a few examples is not enough to declare a general proportion.
Upon completion, save the evidence with context in the research repository. Relate it to a hypothesis, such as facilitating comparison between time slots, and describe how the next round can evaluate the change. Replay becomes useful when it helps explain a decision, not just when it produces a convincing video.

Do I need to watch all sessions in full?

If you need to measure the frequency of a behavior, plan a review with adequate coverage and criteria, instead of just counting the most memorable cases.
Does a long pause mean the person was confused?
Not necessarily. They might be reading, consulting external information, interrupted by another activity, or facing a connection problem. Relate the pause to what was recorded and the available report. When the explanation cannot be verified, present it as a possibility, not as a fact.
Can I use replay without screen recording?
In UXTap, event-based reconstruction may be available without a video. The visual scope depends on the block type and recorded materials.
